Module 1: Usability Intro

Are you new to usability? Is usability (or UX) a buzz word you have noticed people are saying, or do you know that it is something that really matters but not really why?

With this module, you will get up to speed with the terminology, the methods and reasons for why usability is important.

Module 2: Design the Test

Planning the usability test is the most important part of the process. This is where you learn how to decide on what kind of test to conduct, the number of users, which users to select, and how to select them.

We will teach you about different research methods that will help you understand your product and users, for example User Research, Focus Groups, Personas, and Expert Reviews.

After learning these basics, we will guide you in selecting the best methods to use based on test requirements, scope, and goals, considering budget, time and logistics. Then we will focus on creating the script, and finally, we will present you with some tips on how to prepare for the test, whether it is remote, in a lab, or in the field.

Module 3: Conduct the Test

We all want to hear our users, but sometimes it takes more than one pair of ears to really listen.

In this module, we will cover the basics of conducting a usability test. We will discuss methodologies and tools, and we will go through some of the most common problems that occur when conducting a test. While there are many kinds of tests, we will focus on think aloud methods. We will also discuss which options to choose when it comes to software and hardware, and get you ready to start testing right away!

Module 4: Present your Findings

The last module of this course is all about the results: How to get them, and what to do with them.

We will go through different ways to harvest data and teach you how to use it wisely, how to prioritise the findings, and how to bring forward the best comments from your users.

We will also touch on how to rate the usability issues, how to generate suggestions and how to present them to your colleagues or clients.

Wishing you a great time,
